Silverstone Classic at Race Retro

Stand A14, Hall 2 – 14/15/16 March

Visitors to the Race Retro Show at Stoneleigh this weekend will get to see the brand new look for the 2008 Silverstone Classic first hand.  Motion Works, the new event organisers and promoters will be on stand A14, Hall 2 at Europe’s premier winter show for historic motorsport and will be on hand to answer any questions from competitors and spectators alike.

As well as the new design for the publicity material and website, three of the cars participating in the 2008 Silverstone Classic will be on display including Peter Sowerby’s FIA Historic F1 Championship winning Williams FW07-14, the car that powered Carlos Reuteman to second place in the 1981 Formula World Championship and helped secure the Constructors Title for Williams that year. Also on display will be the Group C Le Mans winning Silkcut Jaguar and a Lotus Europa from the HSCC Road Sport Series.

The brand new online ticket booking at www.silverstoneclassic.com will go live at Race Retro on Friday 14 March and to celebrate visitors to the show over the 3-days can take advantage of a special show discount of an extra £5 off the already attractive advance ticket prices.  Visitors can book online on the Silverstone Classic stand or at home by midnight on Sunday 16 March quoting the special show code.

Event Background

The annual Silverstone Classic festival will be organised and promoted by Motion Works UK Limited (MWUK) on behalf of CAE (Silverstone) Limited, the company recently licensed by Silverstone to stage the event for the next five years.

The annual Silverstone Classic is a celebration of motor racing across all decades from the 1920s to the 1990s on a current FIA approved circuit and is not totally historic as it also invites more contemporary races such as Group C, Saloons and late Formula One cars to be raced and seen in their appropriate surroundings. Classic Car Owner Clubs from across the UK and overseas play an important supporting role in recent years with 4,000 cars expected this year. The event Auction remains an important landmark and features such as the Scarf & Goggles meeting area, art & photo galleries, period air displays, funfairs, themed catering, will be retained and enhanced, with new attractions being added over the next few years.
