Owners of pre 1988 Classics are invited to take part in the 2008 Silverstone Classic RetroRun
The Silverstone Classic RetroRun has been an established part of the event for many years and on Saturday 26 July owners of cars manufactured before 1988 are invited to take part in this year’s RetroRun. The Silverstone Classic RetroRun is a fun driving event; it is neither a speed event nor a competition. There are four routes to choose from and each is approximately 100 miles in length.
The cost for entry to the 2008 Silverstone Classic RetroRun is £99.00 per vehicle and each entry comes with the following benefits –

“The Silverstone Classic is all about providing a great weekend of entertainment and we are offering visitors the chance to not just spectate, but participate in the event as well,” said Event Director Roger Etcell. “The RetroRun is one such opportunity and it enables members of the public who own classic cars to be part of a unique display. In return they will receive a great package of benefits that includes a visit to the factory or museum at the start point they have chosen, a special infield parking area and two laps of the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit on Sunday in their car.”

Event Background
The annual Silverstone Classic festival will be organised and promoted by Motion Works UK Limited (MWUK) on behalf of CAE (Silverstone) Limited, the company recently licensed by Silverstone to stage the event for the next five years.
The annual Silverstone Classic is a celebration of motor racing across all decades from the 1920s to the 1990s on a current FIA approved circuit and is not totally historic as it also invites more contemporary races such as Group C, Saloons and late Formula One cars to be raced and seen in their appropriate surroundings. Classic Car Owner Clubs from across the UK and overseas play an important supporting role in recent years with 4,000 cars expected this year. The event Auction remains an important landmark and features such as the Scarf & Goggles meeting area, art & photo galleries, period air displays, funfairs, themed catering, will be retained and enhanced, with new attractions being added over the next few years.
