60 Years of Silverstone and Make-A-Wish

Jenson Button and Tamara Ecclestone Celebrate 60 Years of Silverstone in Aid of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK

Synonymous with glamour and style, the British Grand Prix is one of the highlights of the UK sporting  calendar.  To  celebrate  the  60th  anniversary  of  Silverstone  Circuit,  and  to  help  raise funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK*, a limited edition T-shirt has been designed by global apparel manufacturer, Alpinestars Inc.**

The T-shirt was modelled by Make-A-Wish patron and Honda Racing F1 Team driver, Jenson Button, and Sky Sports Italia co-host and presenter, Tamara Ecclestone during a photo call. Make-A-Wish child and Formula 1 fan William Hine, who was visiting the F1 Paddock for the first  time,  joined  Button  and  Ecclestone  after  Saturday’s  thrilling  British  Grand  Prix  Qualifying session. Jenson Button and Tamara Ecclestone model the Alpinestars designed ’60 Years of Silverstone’ T-Shirt, being auctioned to help raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation 2008 marks the diamond anniversary of Silverstone and to celebrate the occasion a number of unique events have been taking place throughout the year.

Especially for the 2008 FORMULA 1 SANTANDER BRITISH GRAND PRIX, the fashion design team at Alpinestars, in collaboration with  Silverstone,  generously  took  the  time  to  design  a  limited  edition  T-shirt  to  highlight  the momentous 60 years milestone.

One of the T-shirts was then whisked away to be signed by current Formula 1 drivers and F1 personalities. It will be presented to Make-A-Wish for auction at the charity’s annual Summer Ball, taking place at Blenheim Palace on 12 July.

Honda Racing F1 Team driver, Jenson Button, said, I've been a patron of the Make-A-Wish Foundation for a few years now so I am really pleased to have taken part in this event. The 60th anniversary  of  Silverstone  is  a  fantastic  occasion  and  I  am  proud  to  have  been  part  of  the exciting motorsport history at this historic venue.

By auctioning the special edition t-shirts which Tamara and I wore today, along with my specially designed helmet from the British Grand Prix, the Make-A-Wish Foundation will be able to make many more kids' dreams come true in the future."

Tamara Ecclestone added, “It is a great privilege to have been asked to support the Make-A- Wish Foundation today.  It is a wonderful charity and a worthy cause.  I am happy to be able to help in any way that I can.”
