2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed

2009 Goodwood Festival of Speed

Went along to Festival for the first time in years yesterday - I just love that Breadvan Ferrari.

Highlights:

- Red arrows display was awesome - 800 mph closing speed as they fly by each other under 100 feet apart...- Jesse James off road buggy - very entertaining and driven with some brio on and off road- Exquisite unrestored Bugatti's- Anthony Reids run in his old BTCC Nissan Primera - he drove the wheels off that thing- Many of the bikers pulling upright wheelies on GP strokers - they are just rather good these guys!

Enclose fastest times at the bottom - Justin Law once again hustling the big cat up the hill in the fastest overall time.

Good to see the US drivers and the bikers - really putting on a show - all the kind of fun stuff such burnouts and wheelies - which would be frowned on in F1

Button and Brawn would have loved Jenson to have driven the current car - but FIA rules mean there is no driving of contemporary cars between races. Brawn GP - as a new team - had the unusual situation of not being able to bring last years car along - so Mercedes got Jenson into the awesome 1934 Mercedes-Benz W25.

You can imagine Mercedes will be looking to make a bit of PR capital about the merc lump in the back of the Brawn this year - especially if he lifts the title. This will be good all round - as doubtless Jenson will recover some of the £££££££'s he is losing out on this year - and MB actually have some positive news - while the 2009 McMerc currently languishes down the order
