Masters Historic Racing has unveiled a superb calendar for the 2010 season, covering some of the most prestigious historic racing events in Europe as well as a range of domestic meetings for competitors in the Top Hat categories.
Star events include Masters Festivals at Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Portimao and Monteblanco. Masters races will also feature prominently at major events including the Silverstone Classic, Nurburgring Oldtimer GP and the Spa Classic Six Hour meeting.
The Masters season starts at a new event, the Superleague Formula meeting on the Silverstone GP circuit over the April Easter weekend, with races for Grand Prix Masters cars up to 1985 and World Sportscar Masters. The F1 cars will race on Friday and Saturday, while the sports cars will have an 80-minute race on Sunday. The weekend timetable has been arranged to fit around family commitments over the Easter weekend, with each category only active for two days of the four-day weekend. The Grand Prix Masters races will also be the perfect warm-up event for those drivers competing in the Monaco Historic GP just four weeks later.
Over the opening weekend of May, competitors in the Masters GT and Pre-66 Touring car grids will have a rare chance to race at the superb Assen circuit in Holland, where a tremendous track and excellent facilities are on offer.
The Masters team is particularly pleased to be returning to the Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nurburgring in August. Feature races will be for Grand Prix cars up to 1985 and a sports car race. Additionally, all GT and Touring cars are invited to contest the three-hour race on the famous Nordschleife circuit on the Friday afternoon. Any driver entering this race through the Masters office will also be able to race in a dedicated Masters race on the Grand Prix circuit on the Sunday.
Top Hat Competitors – the UK based 50s, 60s and 70s touring car and GT races - can look forward to five one-day Top Hat Racedays in Britain, including a first visit to the demanding Anglesey circuit, as well as various race opportunities at the Masters Festivals. Two new dedicated members of the Masters Team will be in place for the new season to look after the Top Hatters and their events, some of which will be run by the Masters own MSA-approved sporting club, Masters Racing Club.
Dedicated Masters Festivals will again be held on the Brands Hatch GP circuit and at Donington Park, while an Iberian double-header - at Portimao and Monteblanco - over back-to-back weekends in October will be the perfect autumn break.
"We're very excited about our 2010 calendar," said Christopher Tate from the Masters Organisation. "We're delighted to be returning to the Oldtimer Grand Prix and continuing our strong links with top-level events like the Silverstone Classic and the Spa Six-Hours. We will be running four Masters Festivals and aim to provide historic racing to suit all tastes and all budgets."
