The Historic Sports Car Club has unveiled its best-ever calendar for the 2010 racing season, with headline events at Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park.
As well as race meetings at six venues where the focus is on racing for club members, three higher profile events are the Silverstone International Trophy (May 15/16), the Brands Hatch Historic Superprix (3/4 July) and the Oulton Park Gold Cup (29/30 August). The Brands Hatch meeting will again use the superb Grand Prix circuit and all three events will include prominent guest races, which will be announced shortly.
In early June, the Autosport Three-Hours will run at Snetterton for cars from the club's Guards Trophy GT and Sports Racing category. Later in June the club will return to Mallory Park, while in August is a new two-day meeting at Croft. Breaking with tradition, the season will start at Silverstone in late March due to the unavailability of Donington Park, and the club will return to Silverstone in October for the annual Championship Finals meeting.
Ten of the events will be solely organised by the HSCC, while for several other events selected HSCC categories will appear as guest races. Once again, the club will be responsible for organising the racing at the Silverstone Classic in July and at the Walter Hayes Trophy in November.
"It is certainly one of the best calendars that the club has ever had," said CEO Grahame White. "In addition to our own race meetings, we will also have an interest in the 60th Anniversary Meeting at Castle Combe, the Spa Classic Six-Hour meeting in September, Dijon in October and five continental races for our Formula 2 Championship."
