Mace supports Young Hearts in Carrera Cup GB campaign

Paul Mace is supporting the Young Hearts Charity this season through his racing programme in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. Mace, boss of the GT Marques team, will contest the pro-am2 category in selected races alongside the team's lead car in the hands of Alex Martin. The charity is very significant to Mace and his wife Leanda, from Tylers Green in Buckinghamshire, as their second son Luke needed heart surgery when he just a few days old. Now, Luke is a healthy three-year old, but the experience left Mace keen to support the fund-raising work of the charity."I'm helping to raise awareness of the charity through my racing this season," said Mace, who ran his car in its new livery in the opening weekend of the season at Thruxton over Easter. Unfortunately, an accident sidelined him in the opening race while leading the pro-am2 category.Young Hearts, which is run by volunteers, was set up by parents of heart children to offer a listening ear and to make a difference in the life of a heart child and their family. The charity, which is centred on the John Radcliffe Children’s Hospital at Oxford, provides advice, support and information, as well as funds to purchase equipment and arranges social events for the children and their families. Heart disease affects one in 100 children and is the most common abnormality. Some children may never need surgery; some one operation and others may need several.More details about the charity are available at www.younghearts.co.uk
