Sieders Racing have shown they will be a real threat on the streets of Townsville this weekend, for Round 4 of the Yokohama V8 Ute Series - protected by Armor All, with two of the top three V8 Utes prepared by the team.
With their utes not returning to the team's Western Sydney operations after a disappointing Darwin round, a lot of time and consideration has gone into getting the most out of the North Queensland round.
"After Darwin, David, Andrew, Ben and I all sat down to work out what we were going to need from the cars at this specific track," said Team Manager Luke Sieders, "based upon today's results, we're pretty confident that we have the set-up right".
"David's results at Darwin were significantly restricted by his engine being down on horse-power," said Sieders, "we bolted in a new one on Tuesday this week, and it's already producing the results we've been missing".
Despite the strong results, all three drivers have lamented on what could have been achieved today, and are determined to get the results they deserve in the morning's qualifying session.
"Not one of the fastest laps recorded by our cars today were the result of three fastest sectors by the drivers," said Sieders, "we know the cars are quick, now we just need to string it all together for qualifying".
Nulon Oil's David Sieders, who has not been to Townsville before, finished the day with the second fastest time for the day with a 1:29.0615, only beaten by the current Lap Record holder, Jack Elsgood.
"There is a lot more flow to this track than Adelaide," said David Sieders, "once you work out your braking, it's pretty easy to pick up".
"I haven't been getting the results that I believe I am capable of in the last round and a half, so it's good to be back up the front of the field."
Both Jesus Racing's Andrew Fisher and Storage King's Ben Dunn showed a marked improvement from their 2009 results, securing third and seventh overall today.
"Andrew continues to really grow in this category, and is consistently putting himself at the front of the field," said Luke Sieders, "Ben is coming up the field in leaps and bounds, and will no doubt get inside the top five with some consistency this year".
The Yokohama V8 Utes hit the track for qualifying at 9am Saturday morning, with Race 1 at 12:35pm. Race 2 and 3 are scheduled on Sunday at 9:10 am and 3:50pm.
