Busy weekend ahead for Yokohama at Brands Hatch

This weekend will be a busy one for Yokohama HPT Ltd, the UK distributor for the Japanese brand of high performance and motorsport tyres. The FIA World Touring Car Championship, using Yokohama control tyres, will be making the UK stop of its global tour and will be supported by a range of other race series, including the Lotus OnTrack series, also using Yokohama as control tyre.

The FIA WTCC is the world's premier touring car race series and generates exceptional racing action. Featuring stars from around the world, the series has used Yokohama ADVAN racing tyres exclusively since 2006 and every year, Yokohama HPT makes sure it has a presence at the UK round of the series, to demonstrate its support. It also gives the company an excellent opportunity to meet the public and reinforce Yokohama's commitment to service and performance.

Yokohama HPT Ltd will have its usual presence, opposite the start/finish straight, where members of the public will be able to view the range of Yokohama tyres, pick up promotional material and have their photos taken with the ever-delightful Yokohama girls.

British drivers Rob Huff in the Chevrolet and BMW's Andy Priaulx will be looking to improve their championship aspirations, while former British Touring Car Champion Colin Turkington will be running as a wild card entry, also in a BMW. The weekend will also see the first outing this year of Tom Boardman in a SEAT and the Polestar Volvo Racing team, with Robert Dahlgren at the wheel of a bio-ethanol powered C30 as the manufacturer looks at a possible full-time entry for next season.

Commenting, Managing Director of Yokohama HPT Ltd, David Seward, said: "I can't believe it has been a year since we were last at Brands Hatch and as usual, we are very excited by the prospect. It's one of the highlights of the year and we expect it to be just as busy as it always is. This incredibly exciting racing and is a great way to showcase the performance of Yokohama tyres."

For 2010, Yokohama has supplied the series with Eco racing tyres, featuring a revised mixture of rubber and orange oil. Derived from orange peel, this reduces the petroleum-based content of each tyre and is part of Yokohama's commitment to developing products and manufacturing techniques that are as environmentally friendly as possible.

It's another example of Yokohama demonstrating that an environmental commitment and the most exciting saloon car racing can go hand in hand.
