SIX-TIMES World Champion Ivan Mauger has backed Peterborough's title credentials after an impressive win over reigning champions Wolverhampton.Mauger was a guest at the East of England Showground and watched the Panthers romp to a 57-35 victory with skipper Niels-Kristian Iversen winning four of his five races - including a spectacular Heat 15 effort against Tai Woffinden.Six of the home side picked up at least one win, whilst Ty Proctor was thetop-scorer for Wolves who badly missed injured Polish star Adam Skornicki.Mauger said: "Peterborough are the team no-one will want to meet in the play-offs. They can crush any team at home if they ride like they did tonight. "As long as they get into the play-offs they could beat anyone on aggregateand they will only get better between now and the end of the season."

EASTBOURNE continued their recent revival with a fourth straight home win -this time 53-40 against local rivals Lakeside.Simon Gustafsson was the Eagles' hero with wins in the last two races as thehome side secured all three points against the Elite League's third-placed team. And Slovenian star Matej Zagar delighted the crowd by overhauling former Eastbourne man Lee Richardson for second place in an exciting Heat 15.Eagles co-promoter Mike Bellerby said: "The supporters, along with ourselveshave witnessed a superb night of entertainment - a close, no quarter given meeting and of course the right result for the Eagles. "Thanks to our 'Kids for a Quid' offer in collaboration with The Argus, to whom we again give our grateful thanks, the crowd was significantly up on last week's attendance and certainly within sustainable levels. "The final two races were right out of the top drawer and to coin a phrase'worth the admission money alone' and they had everybody on their feet. Thecrowd have gone home happy, with only positives to draw upon, we couldn't be happier and on this sort of form we certainly believe that we could be a match for anyone, and anywhere."
