COVENTRY ran up their biggest win of their season with an impressive 58-35 victory over Eastbourne at Brandon.Mid-season signing Krzysztof Kasprzak dropped just one point from five rides and the meeting also saw a return to form for Edward Kennett, who scored 12. The Eagles weren't helped by losing No.1 rider Matej Zagar mid-meeting, the Slovenian withdrawing with a wrist problem after tangling with team-mateTomasz Jedrzejak in Heat 5.Coventry boss Alun Rossiter said: "It's very pleasing, we know we have a talented team and that's what we should have been doing a lot more of.Tonight was the first time it's really clicked."I've been getting stuck-in to Edward and I don't really know what he's done differently but it's obviously worked, and that was the Edward Kennett of old."

SCUNTHORPE put in a solid all-round effort to overcome Newcastle 52-39 and end the Diamonds' recent winning streak. The scores were close for the first nine races but the Scorpions then collected back-to-back 5-1s to move clear, with Carl Wilkinson (12+1) andMagnus Karlsson (12) top-scoring.Newcastle, meanwhile, suffered injury problems with Dakota North withdrawing due to concussion and Kenni Larsen was also unable to complete the meetingafter a coming-together with team-mate Mark Lemon.Scorpions boss Richard Hollingsworth is now looking for his side to carry their good form into Sunday's away match at Newport. He said: "It's difficult to predict when away wins will come along but Sunday is one of our best opportunities."We won 46-44 there last year, and Newport is a track that suits us so we must make the most of it and gain revenge for that horrible home defeat they dished out to us at the beginning of last month."
(SPEEDWAY 3) BIRMINGHAM will be without broken collarbone victim Aaron Summers for both legs of the Premier Trophy Final against Newcastle.Already without Chris Kerr (leg), the Brummies had hoped that Summers would be fit to return having practiced at Glasgow weekend, but further checks on the injury have resulted in the Aussie being told to rest for another fortnight.Boss Graham Drury said: "Aaron called me yesterday to tell me the bad news and we have no option but to use the rider replacement facility."We will go up there and give it everything we've got. We were brilliant in the group stages of the Trophy and our priority is to keep the scores as close as possible before we get them back to Perry Barr on Wednesday."Even with our injury problems I feel confident the team we have can do the job and it would be a massive boost for us all if we can go forward and win a major national title."
