BRENDAN Johnson capped a remarkable return to the sport with victory in Friday's British Under-18 Championship at Somerset.Johnson suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash at the Isle of Wight last year but has been racing for the Islanders again this season and recently received a completely clean bill of health. He finished ahead of Joe Jacobs in the Final, with Kyle Howarth in third place and Tom Perry just missing out on a rostrum place.Johnson said: "Winning this title has certainly made it a week to remember, especially coming after receiving the all-clear from the hospital. "I knew that if I got my head down and made some starts I would be in with achance of winning, but although I didn't start the meeting too well, it all came good for me when it mattered. To say that I am over the moon would bean understatement!"

RYE House kicked off their Northern tour with a useful away point at Premier League leaders Edinburgh. The Monarchs extended their advantage at the top of the table with a 49-43 win but were limited to two points from the meeting after a last-heat Rockets' 5-1.Jordan Frampton and Linus Sundstrom were the men to give the visitors some reward from the meeting, which was a boost to their chances of reaching the play-offs.Rye boss John Sampford said: "It was a superb effort by the boys, absolutely brilliant. To be 14 points down at one stage, and then come back and get a match point at the home of the champions elect, is simply fantastic."The boys were determined to get back to their best form after last week's hammering at Workington, and they made up for that result in a big, big way tonight."
