The Classic Sports Car Club are pleased to announce that we shall be running two night races at our Donington Park Race Meeting on Sunday 31st October.
There will be a 40 minute Inter-Series race for participants from all 5 of the club’s own Series, together with a 15 minute race also open to the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club ( JEC) Racers. After the normal days racing, which is on the same day that the clocks go back, there will be a supper break to allow night to fall. Practice will take place in the dark, after lighting up time, which is officially at 16.37, followed by the two races. The circuit curfew is at 19.30.As one of the fastest growing clubs in the country this is another example of the CSCC providing new and exciting possibilities for its members to race at major circuits in The UK and Europe, and to sample endurance racing, including the special challenge and thrill of racing at night, at good value for money prices.
:The Classic Sports Car Club was set up in 2001 by enthusiast racers who wanted to offer racing at grass roots level and since then the has grown to over 700 members and runs more than ten race weekends each year. Along with a full national race programme we also invite our members to attend European race weekends at Spa and the Nurburgring and regularly receive invites from other high profile meetings to provide support events such as the 2008 WTCC meeting at Brands Hatch and the 2009 inaugral Formula 2 meeting at Donington Park.
The CSCC organises five race series' of its own, “Swinging Sixties” for 1960’s era Sports and Saloon car, “Tin Tops” for saloons and hatchbacks of all ages, “Future Classics” for Sports Saloons and GT cars up to 1990, “Magnificent 7s” for all Lotus 7 inspired cars and (NEW FOR 2010), the “Classic K” Series for FIA Appendix compliant cars. A unique aspect of the Club’s series’ is that its UK races are all a 40 minute “endurance” format featuring a compulsory pit stop for one or two drivers, except for the Spa race which is 1 hour long and the Nurburgring race which is a 300Km race. 2 cars can also compete in a “relay” format.
