BELLE Vue have signed Czech Republic rider Filip Sitera to fill the gap left by William Lawson's departure. Sitera joins the Aces after losing his place at Coventry earlier in theseason, and he will make his debut on Monday against Peterborough at Kirkmanshulme Lane. Manager Chris Morton said: "We needed a rider with Elite League experience and machinery and the choice was limited. Filip was bitterly disappointed with his early season campaign and knows his release by Coventry was justified."He is very keen to put things right and we have given him a good chance to deliver what he has shown in the past he can do. We need him to ride up tohis average."Ulrich Ostergaard came to us after the disappointment of being released by Peterborough and has done well. Now we are hoping Filip can do the same."

COVENTRY moved up to seventh place in the Elite League table by taking maximum points from their local derby against Wolverhampton at Brandon.Skipper Chris Harris top-scored with 12-points at the head of a solid Bees display, although the ride of the night was supplied by youngster Josh Auty who overtook Tai Woffinden in Heat 7.Auty also battled hard with Wolves' No.1 Freddie Lindgren, who top-scored for his side with 15, with their late comeback seeing them just miss out on a point despite having to field a patched-up team.Auty said: "It was a brilliant performance tonight, we knew it was an important local derby and credit all the guys for doing the job."It was great to pass Tai, and then it was a bit of a shame with Freddie and it was probably my lack of experience because I should have stayed on the dirt-line, but you learn these things as you progress so I'll take it onboard. Overall we're really pleased with the performance."

SCUNTHORPE Saints picked up their biggest win of the season with a 55-39 victory against the Isle of Wight. Gary Irving and Steve Worrall both won four races, whilst Ashley Birksracked up paid 16 from seven rides as they covered for the absence of No.1 rider Mark Burrows. Nick Simmons was top man for the Islanders with 15. Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey said: "The progress made by Gary and Steve since being given their chance in the Premier League is there for all to see. "Gary spent some time with Tero Aarnio working on his gating and it seems to have paid divid ends. He's no longer last into the first turn so just like Steve he is really progressing at the moment. "We were missing our number one tonight but both Steve and Gary rode like number ones. It was also good to see Ashley Birks relaxing a bit more on his bike, and he had a good night too."

WEYMOUTH moved off the foot of the National League table with a 49-41 win over King's Lynn in a tense battle at the Wessex Stadium. The Wildcats needed a 5-1 from the last race to move above the Young Stars, for whom a 5-1 in their favour would have given them a draw on the night.Visiting No.1 Simon Lambert was unbeaten at that stage, but Wildcats duo James Cockle and Adam McKinna both stormed inside him on the second bend tothe delight of the home supporters.Weymouth chairman Phil Bartlett said: "Another last heat decider, fantastic racing and good entertainment for the crowd - it's nice to get off the bottom of the table. "Quite clearly we needed to get that, and the 5-1 in heat 15 made it hugely entertaining for the fans to go home extremely happy."

BERWICK manager Ian Rae was delighted with the debut performance of MarcinRempala in the Bandits' impressive win over Edinburgh.Rempala scored seven points on his first appearance at Shielfield Park as the leaders were beaten 54-42 - their first away defeat of the Premier League campaign so far. And the Polish rider delighted home supporters with some spectacular overtaking moves on his way to two race victories.Rae said: "Marcin set the place alight tonight with those passes, and in only his first match here was amazing. "We worked well as a team and got the reward for it, and made our tenth place in the league more secure, but we want to be higher to make sure of a certain Young Shield place so we won't be easing up as our season finally comes together."

STOKE boss Malcolm Vasey says another new signing could be in the pipeline as the Potters look to make sure of Young Shield qualification.Vasey's side went down 47-43 to in-form Sheffield at Loomer Road on Saturday, despite an impressive home debut from German rider Frank Facher, who scored 10+1.And the Stoke manager knows the importance of avoiding the bottom two places in the Premier League in order to extend their season. He said: "Don't be surprised if there is another new face in the next week.We have identified a rider and have already held discussions with his club, although I'm not promising anything - just don't be surprised to see someone new in the next seven days.
