The Porsche Carrera Cup GB was back in action at Snetterton this weekend after a month’s absence, with Charles Bateman supported by Pilgrim Foodservice and Henderson Insurance Brokers.
Following a hard fought and action packed qualifying session, Bateman qualified 9th in the pro class.
Come race day on Sunday Bateman was hoping to secure a top six finish. Bateman fought hard in race one and managed to work through the field despite tyre problems to finish 6th.
Bateman had to settle for 7th place in race two after tyres issues hit once again.
The Motorbase Performance driver will now focus his attention on the next round at Silverstone, the home of British Motorsport.
After race two Charles commented, “In the first race I managed to get through the first corner mayhem and passed Ollie Jackson for 6th but from there I couldn’t really push any more. I had a flat spot on my tyres and wore one of them down to the canvas, we were about a lap away from them exploding. Even with this, I managed to keep a gap to Ollie so I was really pleased.
“I got a good start to race two, making up a couple of places. Unfortunately once again I managed to flat-spot my tyres early on and the vibrations it caused were quite bad. I slipped down to finish 7th but overall I’ve managed to close the gap in the Championship to the drivers in front so it’s looking good for the rest of the season.”
