Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Makes First Oulton Visit

The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge visits Oulton Park in Cheshire for the first time this weekend, Saturday August 14th, the new for 2010 series providing home for any racing Porsche GT3 – with grids comprise the exciting 400bp plus GT3 models that have contested the Porsche Carrera Cup. The series is designed to complement that championship – drivers and teams able to sample circuits in the GT3 Cup before their own championship races there.

The two opening rounds saw Jim Geddie take all four wins, the experienced Porsche racer straight on the pace in his 997. Geddie missed the previous two rounds at Snetterton, which were won by Mark Hazell and George Richardson, the Porsche Carrera Cup BG runners using the series to get track time at Snetterton prior to their series visiting the Norfolk circuit – one of the key aspects of the series when it was launched was the ease teams and drivers could move between the two

Highlighting the driveability of these potent cars was the performance of Stephen Ritchie, who claimed second in both races at Brands Hatch on his first ever race outing. Similarly, race newcomer Peter Smallwood has set the Class Two pace in his 996.

Class One caters for the latest 997 GT3 models, with the older 996 GT3s in Class Two. Class Three allows any car eligible for the Porsche Club Championship to compete.

The GT3 Cup competitors qualify at 09.00 and then race at 11.35 and 15.30, with both races scheduled for 25-minutes duratio
