Summer’s Going Fast at Harewood

Sunday August 29th will hopefully be a warm summer’s day, but one thing’s for certain, there’s guaranteed to be some hot motorsport competition on 2, 3 and 4 wheels at Harewood Speed Hillclimb’s Summer Championship Meeting, whatever the weather.

A full house of 150 entrants in cars and on motorcycles will be racing against the clock on the UK’s longest and most demanding permanent hillclimb course. Spectators will be able to see everything from diminutive Nissan Micras to specialist single seater racing cars, plus almost 40 motorcycles and combinations ranging from 174cc to 1300cc.

There’s also the exciting bonus of a class made up by members of the TVR Car Club and amongst the 18 TVR sports cars entered are seven models powered by 5 litre V8 engines – and these are going to sound as impressive as they look as they hurtle up the hill.

Other highlights include ultra-fast Sarah Cordingley in her Radical Prosport Sports Libre Class racing car and the irrepressible Vini Dobson in his incredibly speedy VW Golf Mk 1.

Harewood Speed Hillclimb is located off the A659 Harewood to Collingham road between Leeds & Harrogate and well signposted on all approach roads. Spectators can get close to the cars in the paddock, talk to the riders and drivers and see the course that left BBC Top Gear’s The Stig speechless in admiration when he tried it out recently!

Catering and refreshments are available throughout the event, picnic tables and seating are provided and there are trackside displays showing each competitor’s speed and time up the course, plus an informative commentary.

Spectator entrance is just £10 per person for each meeting and children under 14 are free of charge.

Future meeting dates are detailed on the website at harewoodhill.com along with some exciting videos of cars racing in what must be Yorkshire’s most scenic motorsport location.
