WOLVERHAMPTON will take a close look at potential Grand Prix stars of the future in the Gary Peterson Memorial Trophy at Monmore on Monday. The event, which remembers the former Wolves youngster who died after a track crash in 1975, sees home skipper Tai Woffinden defending his trophy - and he's up against several of his team-mates including fellow World Cup rider Nicolai Klindt.Woffinden is a Grand Prix rider these days and the meeting is packed with riders with similar ambitions.Newcastle's Kenni Larsen has been hitting the high scores for Newcastle in the Premier League and Edinburgh duo Kalle Katajisto and Kevin Wolbert have played a major role in the Monarchs' push towards the Premier League title. There's plenty of interest for Birmingham fans, too, with the appearance of Richard Sweetman - and Dudley Heathens teenager Tom Perry is included forthe biggest event in his short career so far.
Wolves owner Chris Van Straaten said: "This has all the makings of a great night of racing with riders from eight different countries. There's plenty of interest in the riders coming through from the Premier League and they will all be desperate to put on a good show on an Elite League track."
