Motors TV Weekly Highlights: 4th to 10th September

WRC: Rally Japan, Day 1Mikko Hirvonen won on Japan’s forest gravel stages the last time the country hosted a round of the WRC in 2008. The Ford driver is all-but out of championship contention this time round but still poses a major threat for victory again. Watch out for the spectacular Super Special which runs inside and out of the futuristic-looking Sapporo Dome stadium.  -     Friday, 10 September: 5pm American Le Mans Series The ALMS makes its annual trip north of the border into Canada for the penultimate round of this year’s Series.-     Sunday, 5 September: 6pm

British Tractor PullingSure, there were more established championships on this week’s schedule, but none odder than British Tractor Pulling which returns to Motors TV screens after far too long away. For those new to the sport, a quick lesson; farm machinery on steroids haul an ever-advancing trailer-bound sled as far as they can down a straight track until the resistance becomes too much and they grind to a halt. The tractor that goes furthest wins. Brilliant.  -     Saturday, 4 September: 5pm British F3 There’s every chance that by the time British F3 reaches Snetterton, French rocket Jean-Eric Vergne will have wrapped up the title. If that’s the case, we apologise. If not, watch Jean-Eric Vergne continue his march towards junior motorsport’s most important prize. Delete as applicable.  -     Sunday, 5 September: 8.10pm Euro F1 Sidecar ChallengeWow, Tractor Pulling and Sidecars in the same week. We’re truly spoiling you. Brands Hatch hosts round five.-     Thursday, 9 September: 9.15pm

Live Motocross World ChampionshipThe Benelux Grand Prix offers the motocross-mad Dutch and Belgians a second chance to see their beloved sport up close and personal without putting other nations’ noses out of joint. This year’s round comes from Lierop in Holland. Sunday, 5 September: From 11am & 2pm
