Team Rosberg collects twelve championship points at the EuroSpeedway

Team Rosberg collected twelve championship points with its two Audi R8 LMS during the fifth ADAC GT Masters race weekend at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz. It was the most successful race event for Team Rosberg in the current ADAC GT Masters season. Christopher Haase, driving for the first time for the team, made the healthy contribution of eight points on his debut together with Bernd Herndlhofer for the Neustadt an der Weinstraße based team. Team Rosberg concluded the Sunday as best Audi team at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz. In Saturday’s race the entire driving squad displayed its driving prowess while staging a tremendous fight back. The team had originally qualified tenth with the number 7 Audi R8 LMS and twelfth with the number 8 car. However, a communication problem during refuelling resulted in a penalty: Both cars received a five position grid penalty. The reason: Refuelling was not permitted when qualifying was stopped due to a red flag incident, but actually only in the regular break between the two qualifying sessions. On the wet track Kenneth Heyer (#7) from Wegberg and Bernd Herndlhofer (#8) got among the action immediately on the first lap: Heyer moved from 15th position to twelfth. Herndlhofer started from 17th place and was already up to eighth position after just one lap. On the fourth lap the Austrian was, however, nudged into a spin by Corvette driver Toni Seiler who received a drive-through penalty as a consequence. Following the mandatory pit stops Michael Ammermüller took over the number 7 and moved up to fifth position. Christopher Haase from Kulmbach took the number 8 to sixth place. "I’m extremely satisfied with fifth place,” said Ammermüller at the finish. "Without the penalty a podium could even have been possible.” Team Boss Arno Zensen and Team Manager Peter Reinisch were both full of praise: "Our compliments to the drivers: All four did a fantastic job after we made a mistake as a team in yesterday’s qualifying.” On Sunday Bernd Herndlhofer/Christopher Haase started from fourth position. During the one-hour race they briefly held third position, but were fourth at the chequered flag and scored five championship points. "I deliberately held back at the first corner,” said Christopher Haase. "The car was very consistent, but Christian Hohenadel was faster than I which is why I couldn’t hang on to third place. I didn’t want to destroy my tyres. It’s good to be the best Audi team with fourth place.”Kenneth Heyer/Michael Ammermüller were eighth on the road, but were classified ninth at the end. The race stewards awarded a 30 second penalty to the number 7 Audi R8 LMS as the minimum speed of 40 kph in the pit lane had been exceeded during the obligatory pit stop. "Congratulations to Christopher Haase and Bernd Herndlhofer who had a good race,” praised Arno Zensen. "We can be happy to have been best Audi team on Sunday. Unfortunately the other car received a time penalty, otherwise we would have finished in the points with both cars.” The next round of the ADAC GT Masters is held on 28 and 29 August at the Nürburgring.
