Kerr joins Porsche Carrera Cup GB for Silverstone

Robbie Kerr will join the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for rounds 13 and 14 at Silverstone this weekend (21/22 August). The former single-seater ace is keen to get back into a current Carrera Cup car after making an impressive debut in 2002 in the Porsche VIP car. Robbie will race in the GT Marques 2008 car alongside team boss Paul Mace. Kerr (30) was British Formula 3 champion in 2002 and went on to be a race winner in A1 Grand Prix for Team GB as he finished third in the championship for three years running. "It's going to be great being out in a Porsche again," said Kerr, who has also shown impressive pace in an LMP1 prototype. He has yet to drive the latest generation of 911 GT3 Cup car and will go straight into testing on Friday to learn the car.Kerr is not under-estimating the challenge he faces. "It's not going to be easy; I'll be up against some tough opposition," said Kerr. "But it's good to be going racing with GT Marques and funding from Airflow.com. We've got a lot of work to do, starting in testing on Friday, and we're under no illusions."
