Britcar and BRSCC Bank holiday fun for all the family at Rockingham

THREE days of motorsport and family fun is on the bill at Rockingham over the Bank Holiday Weekend (August 28-30) as the Northamptonshire circuit hosts more than 20 races.

Some of the world’s most iconic supercars are racing on Saturday (August 28) as the Britcar GT series returns to Rockingham. The British Racing Sports Car Club (BRSCC) takes over the circuit on Sunday and Monday (August 29/30) with no less than 10 different racing series to look forward to during the two-day meeting.

There will also be plenty of entertainment, including a lunch time grid walk on Saturday and track parades on Sunday and Monday. Kids can have their faces painted, play giant skittles, take part in a treasure hunt or collect the drivers’ autographs from the special desk in the Welcome Centre.

The giant Scalextric will also be back in the Welcome Centre, along with the chance to set the best lap on Rockingham’s racing simulators, and Rockingham’s house band will make a special appearance on Sunday.

Fans have until mid-day on Friday August 27 to book tickets in advance at just £10 per day, or £20 for a three-day pass. Children aged 15 and under get in free, making a weekend of fun and racing affordable for all the family.

The colossal line up of races includes the Britcar series, bringing some glamour to the circuit with endurance racing from Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lotus and Porsche. Supporting the supercars will be three more rounds of the Line-X Pickup Truck Championship, which never fails to add excitement, as the 150mph trucks thunder round Europe’s fastest racing circuit.

The incredibly well-supported Ma5da MX5 Championship will also be on a mission to entertain the Bank Holiday crowd with more than 66 MX5’s descending on the circuit as part of a packed line-up.

Challenging them as fan’s favourite will be the equally exciting Mighty and Super Mighty Mini Championships. Both championships see the cars racing out of the final turn three or four abreast as they dash for the line.

More tin-top action is provided by the impressive Euro Saloons whose line up includes some former British and World Touring Cars.  The Cannons Motors Spares Tin Tops & Tiger Racing Series also showcases saloon cars, while fans of sportscars will be in for another treat with the OSS and Sports 2000 Duratec Championships as well as the TVR Challenge which puts all the models from the famous Blackpool manufacturer on the grid.
