Pirtek Racing will race at the world famous Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire this weekend as part of the 2010 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. The seventh round of the series will see the Pirtek Team star at the home of British Motorsport as youngster Andrew Jordan (21) spearheads the team in their fight for on track success.
The BTCC field races on the much shorter and tighter National Circuit configuration at Silverstone opposed to the traditional Grand Prix layout. The nature of a lap on the National Circuit generates much closer and tighter racing and with plenty of long straights the TOCA turbo engine in the Pirtek Racing Vauxhall will hopefully be able to seek out an advantage over its rivals.
Jordan commented ahead of the Silverstone race, “With it being such a short lap at Silverstone, we know we have to get it all hooked up for qualifying, there’s no margin for error because a tenth across the lap could cost you plenty of grid places for Sunday’s first race. However, the power of our engine could certainly prove useful over the weekend for both straightline speed and getting a good exit out from the corners. We’ve solved our issues from the final race at Snetterton and we really hope to go out there and get back onto the podium.
“It’s always a good feeling coming into Silverstone, it’s great to race at the Grand Prix facility especially as the racing is always very close for the fans to enjoy. We have a lot of support wherever we go in the country, but Silverstone seems to bring even more people out to cheer us on and I’m looking forward to hopefully scoring plenty of Championship points to give them something to shout about.”
Qualifying for the Silverstone race will take place on Saturday at 14:55, whilst the first of Sunday’s three races will start at 11:55. Catch all of the action live on ITV4 on Sunday afternoon.
