WILKS TO ENTERTAIN THOUSANDS WITH ŠKODA AT RALLYDAY23/08/10 from Skoda
Guy Wilks promises to entertain the expected 10,000 strong crowd with a spectacular driving display when he drives a Škoda UK Motorsport Fabia S2000 Facelift at Rallyday, Castle Combe, on Saturday 18 September.
It’s the same car that the 29-year old Darlington driver has been contesting this year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge in – finishing 6th in Monte Carlo, 2nd in Brazil and Argentina and 3rd in Gran Canarias, before a slight mishap on the Rally d'Italia-Sardegna!
Regular co-driver Phil Pugh will surrender the hot seat for the day, as Škoda UK Motorsport will be donating passenger rides with Guy to three extremely good causes – the Richard Burns Foundation, Colin McRae Vision and Save The Children.
Rallyday is the UK’s premier rally car show, which gives visitors a chance to enjoy the spectacle of seeing a wide range of rally cars and stars in an open and spectator friendly environment. It comprises live action on the track with static displays in the paddock, and has something to offer everyone from the rally enthusiast to a family looking for an enjoyable day out.
On track action comes in the form of professional driving demonstrations, track sessions, rally car rides, circuit parades and a feature rally car stage. Off track there are a host of displays where visitors can have a close look at some of the worlds most iconic rally cars.
Škoda UK will have a display of road cars in the main paddock area, featuring the exciting new Fabia vRS, Octavia vRS (Guy’s car of choice on the road), a Superb Estate and Yeti, Auto Express Car of the Year 2010. When it’s not flying around the Rallyday special stage, fans will also be able to get up close and personal with the Škoda Fabia S2000 – the car which leads the IRC series and is regarded as the best Super S2000 in international rallying today.
Guy Wilks: “Rallyday at Castle Combe is a really good event with a fantastic atmosphere. There is always a great collection of rally cars, both modern and from a bygone era, and the access people have to the cars and drivers is second to none. I really love driving at Rallyday. Although Castle Combe is a race circuit, it’s a great opportunity to put on a show for the large crowd of spectators – especially as there are so many of them!”
