Double knock out for Regalia in Spa Formula BMW

In a repeat of Saturday's incident, Facu Regalia was knocked out of contention by another driver, in this case Petri Suvanto, who hit him from behind on the fourth lap, which prevented him climbing higher than twelfth  in the second Formula BMW Europe race of Spa-Francorchamps round.

The Argentinean-Spanish driver  continued his stream of bad luck - today the problem came from behind - damaging the rear of his car.

He started very well on the dry track from the sixth on the grid, but he couldn’t do anything against his bad luck. “I reacted very well to the lights. I decided to go on the outside of the first corner so I could make up some positions, but I was blocked and I had to brake a little earlier than I expected”, explain the Eifelland Racing youngster. In the beginning of the race he was fighting with some drivers ahead and he made some good overtaking manoeuvres, until the fatidic moment of the fourth lap.

Petri Suvanto, who was behind Facu Regalia, forgot to brake, taking with him the Spanish-Argentinean driver, who spun. Beside lost time, his car had some damage that prevented him to keep racing at the pace that he showed before. “When I looked in the mirrors I saw Suvanto very far away. But he must have forgotten to brake, because he hit me hard on the back. I spun and lost lot of time and the rear wing was damage, so I couldn’t do anything in the five remaining laps”, said disappointed the young driver.

Regalia is already looking forward to Monza, where he expects “to be luckier than in the last few races”
