The Knockhill race circuit in Scotland hosts the eighth round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship this weekend, with Pirtek Racing looking to capitalise on the momentum the team has built after scoring points in each of the last three rounds of the series.
Andrew Jordan and the Pirtek team - who already have one victory under their belt this season - showed great race pace at the previous round of the series at Silverstone. The team qualified in the top five and consistently ran at the pace of the leading cars throughout all three races, taking home six championship points and leaving the team eighth in the Team’s Championship battle heading into Knockhill.
Jordan commented ahead of the upcoming race weekend, “I really enjoy Knockhill - it is the ultimate in tight and twisty circuits. I won there when I raced in Rallycross and I scored a BTCC podium in 2008, so it holds good memories for me. With only three rounds left of the championship, I think the racing is going to be tough but exciting this weekend.
“There are some great fast sections of the circuit which contrast with the twisty sections. The long uphill run from the last corner to the start finish straight should suit the turbo power of the engine and hopefully the usual Scottish weather will play into our hands and keep the conditions cool for optimum performance from the engine.
“After the damage to the Vectra in race three at Silverstone, we were unsure at one point if we’d be able to turn it around in time for Knockhill because the front end needed entirely rebuilding. The team have made a mammoth effort and I’m really looking forward to getting the Pirtek Vectra up at the sharp end in the weekend’s three races.”
Catch all of the action on Sunday from 11:45am where the first of all three BTCC races will be screened live on ITV4.
