Round 7: JCS Kegworth Loughborough Autotest, September 5Alastair Moffatt rounded off the 2010 Link Up Ltd MSA British Autotest Championship season with his fifth FTD of the year in the Loughborough Autotest.Moffatt was made to work hard for his success by Richard Pinkney, who flew out of the blocks to take a nine-second lead after the first round, which increased to just over 10 seconds by the lunch halt. The weather then intervened and a shower of rain swung the advantage to the front-wheel-drive Mini Special of Moffatt, who by the end of round four had opened up a 4.5-second lead. Moffatt later made an uncharacteristic mistake and picked up a 5-second penalty and thus handing Pinkney a 2.4-second advantage. The pair set identical times on the final test, but it was not to be Pinkney’s day as he too picked up a penalty, which left Moffatt to take the spoils by just 2.7 seconds.Results1Alastair Moffatt (Mini Special) 764.3 2 Richard Pinkney (Caterham 7) 767.03 Chris Chapman (Raw Striker) 815.94 Mike Sones (Mini Special) 834.85 Stephen Morten (Raw Striker) 835.56 David Evans (Blitz Special) 841.9
