Álvaro Parente wants to keep up the momentum

Alvaro Parente will be at Monza next weekend for another GP2 Series round, where he expects to keep the good results that he has been achieving in the last few weeks.

The Portuguese youngster return to the championship regarded as the last step before Formula 1 was astonishing, as he conquered two podiums in the selective Spa-Francorchamps circuit, leaving the Belgium track as the man who scored more points. His performance leaves him confident for the Italian circuit round, where he expects to keep the momentum. “I’m very pleased to be able to race again with Coloni and, as usual, I’m very motivated, I achieved good results in the last events where I took part. At Monza I’ll give my best so I can show again the pace of the recent races and get a good result in the team’s home event, something that would be a fantastic way of thanking the confidence that the team has in me”, underlined the World Series by Renault 2007 winner.

Alvaro Parente knows well the Italian circuit, where he has already tasted the winning flavour, and is aware of its unique characteristics. However, the Portuguese driver is confident in his team and outlines that, with a good car in his hands, he may keep the recent good results. “In this track the car has to have downforce wings, so it can be fast in the straights, and has to have good mechanical grip, to do the chicanes and some corners as fast as possible. At Spa-Francorchamps we were very competitive, but Monza is a unique circuit. Though, I’m confident that Coloni will give me a very competitive single-seater so I can fight for the top position”, concluded the driver from Oporto.
