Some big cars sold at the traditional barometer of the market sale in London this week - including this Lamborghini Miura SVJ.
Estimate pre-sale was £800,000-£1,100,000 so a sale price of £728.000 (£625k hammer price) was a shade under estimate - but although a well known car - the murky world of Jota provenance - either 5 or 7 Jotas were built after Bob Wallace's original was destroyed means that the car's value is tricky to assess and probably sold well as it originally left the factory as an SV . Anyway think the car compares well with the £704k reached for Rod Stewart's RHD SV - which was pre-sale estimated at £500-600k...
Aston's sold well with well above estimate prices for a DB4 Vantage - estimated at £150-200k going for £257,600, a DB4 convertible and DB6 convertible going above estimate at £285600 and £296400 respectively.
And what of the star car - the ex 007 DB5?? £2.9m represents what it's worth - and you get a free holiday at Fleming's old place - Goldeneye in Jamaica for you and 10 mates!
Bargain of the sale - got to be this 1934 MG PA/B Le Mans Works Racing Car - which raced at Le Mans

a snip at £78,400 - well below the £110-160k estimate - eligible for everything - cheap to run and easy to drive on a whole manner of events - the purchaser must be delighted and wondered if the rest of the room was asleep!
Bear in mind prices mentioned include 10% buyers premium and where applicable import tax - which on some of the old cars was agreed at 5%.
It was not a bad sale really - cars sold - so stop being so bloody miserable!!
