(SPEEDWAY 1)BIRMINGHAM boss Graham Drury says he expects captain Jason Lyons to remain with the club next season.Lyons has been a mainstay of the Brummies since their return to the sport at Perry Barr in 2007, and the 40-year-old continues to be one of the top riders in the Premier League.Drury said: "I want Jason to ride for Birmingham and he wants to ride for Birmingham. I can't say for definite until he signs a contract, but I've every confidence he will be with us."We've always been there or thereabouts since speedway was re-introduced at Birmingham, and I want to bring success to the club. It's a big club and I understand the expectations of the fans."(SPEEDWAY 2)WEYMOUTH'S future looks brighter after departing chairman Phil Bartlett revealed he is in talks with a potential buyer for the National League club.Bartlett also feels the league itself can look forward to a positive year ahead in 2011, with teams having until December 7 to declare an intent to compete next season.He said: "I am talking to someone who is quite seriously looking to take the club forward. I hope to be able to make an announcement very, very soon."It looks like this league is going to be very strong, Mildenhall look to be returning and there is the possibility of another couple of clubs joining so the league may go up to twelve clubs."

(SPEEDWAY 3)WOLVERHAMPTON star Tai Woffinden says he can benefit from taking time out of the Grand Prix spotlight next season.Woffinden admits that 2010 was a tough year on and off the track, but he is to spend the winter in Australia with a priority on his fitness, and he intends to resume his upward progress next season.He said: "It's no bad thing for me to be out of the Grand Prix, I've done a year in it and now I feel I have benefited from the experience. "I've learnt so much from this year and I have to take that forward. In hindsight it was probably a year too soon for me and I tried to throw money at it. Next year I'm going to get back to enjoying my racing again."

(SPEEDWAY 4)SUPPORTERS of the bid to bring speedway back to Bristol will gain an update on progress at a meeting with prospective promoter Andy Hewlett on Saturday evening.Hewlett will be joined by local councillor Steve Comer to discuss the latest position of the Avonmouth project, over 30 years after speedway was last staged in the city at Eastville Stadium.Hewlett said: "There has been a lot of speculation in the sport's press about progress with Bristol City Council but this is the opportunity to hear at first hand what the prospect is for the return of the Bulldogs. "I am delighted that Councillor Comer can join me to give a political perspective while I can inform fans what my future plans are should all come to fruition. We can also deal with the well publicised topic of potential objections from Natural England and co-ordinating our response."
