Masters Historic Racing is to run a race for British sports cars at its annual Snetterton event this season which will be the first historic meeting to run on the new Snetterton 300 circuit.
The race, open to all British-built sports cars from 1950 to the end of 1960, will be the highlight of the Easter Saturday meeting and Top Hat Event Manager James Beckett is busy attracting as big a grid as possible.
The race will run for 30 minutes and be open to one or two-driver teams, with a mandatory pit stop and is open to cars from 1950 to the end of 1969.
“When you consider how many British sports cars exist, road or race cars, there is no reason why this can’t be a great success. We have already had a good response and Russell Paterson will be bringing his Morgan +8 to try to add to his win at Oulton Park. We are working on MGs and Triumphs to join the fun, but there is no reason why Lotus owners shouldn’t head to Snetterton for example. Then there are race constructors like Lola or Chevron, for example, and we’d be happy to run them if there is competitor demand. There is no other race for British-built sports-racing cars that weekend, so the chance to drive the new Snetterton 300 is one not to be missed.
"Britain produced some great sports cars and sports racing cars throughout the 1950s and 1960s and this race at Snetterton is an ideal opportunity for drivers to race their cars on the new 300 layout."
There will also be races for Pre-66 Touring Cars, Gentlemen Drivers Pre-66 GT cars, Oldies but Goldies (including the XK Challenge) and the popular 1970s Celebration race.
