ADAC Masters Weekend impresses power fans at Sachsenring

In Saturday’s ADAC GT Masters race pole sitters and ABT duo Luca Ludwig/Christopher Mies (Bonn/Heiligenhaus) won from their team mates Christer Jöns/Jens Klingmann (Ingelheim/Leimen). The Porsche pair of Sebastian Asch/Michael Ammermüller (Ammerbuch/Pocking) completed the podium in a race that started turbulently: Mercedes driver Robert Renauer (Jedenhof) was an innocent victim in an accident at the start which saw him roll the car. He was uninjured while his gull wing sportscar was so badly damaged that racing on Sunday was not possible. The second race was declared a "wet race” when rain fell just before the start. The Corvette duo Sven Hannawald/Heinz-Harald Frentzen who were surrounded by autograph hunters throughout the entire weekend finished 13th and 17th. Independent of the finishing positions Sachsenring debutant Frentzen: "The races were a lot of fun.” ATS Formula 3 Cup: wins for Stanaway and BachlerNew Zealander Richie Stanaway (NZ) defended his championship lead during the third ATS Formula 3 Cup race weekend. In the first race around the Sachsenring he celebrated his fourth victory of the season, a day later he was fourth. Last year’s 19-year old Formel ADAC champion can thank the generous support of rival teams that he could even race. His team was lent parts to repair the Dallara-Volkswagen badly damaged in qualifying. The Dane Marco Sörensen was second in both races and now also holds second place in the standings only four points behind. Klaus Bachler wandered grinning through the paddock: after finishing third on the previous day the Austrian celebrated his first Formula 3 victory in the second race.Formel ADAC: Sven Müller is man of the weekendSven Müller (Bingen) catapulted himself to the top of the Formel ADAC championship standings with a second place and two victories at the Sachsenring event. The dethroned leader Emil Bernstorff (GB) finished fifth, second and fourth on the so called roller-coaster track. Third in the standing is Pascal Wehrlein (Worndorf). The ADAC Stiftung Sport supported driver won Saturday’s race but retired from the second race. In the third race he staged an impressive fight back, which saw him carve his way through the field from 24th to fifth. The Russian Artem Markelov who was third twice was also strong. Dennis Lind (DK) clinched a podium position in the final race after finishing second.

ADAC PROCAR: new names in the winners list Although Johannes Leidinger (Nalbach), the winner of both races at the opening event, defended his ADAC PROCAR championship lead the BMW driver was winless at the Sachsenring. In the first race he had to give best to fellow BMW driver Jens Weimann (Preetz). In the second race Honda man Peter Rikli (CH), who started from third on the grid, finished ahead of Leidinger. In Division 2 Guido Thierfelder (Troisdorf) in his Peugeot worked his way to within three points of leader Nils Mierschke (Fränkisch-Crumbach). The Citroën driver took second and third places at the Sachsenring. Ulrike Krafft (Lauffen) took the unofficial title of fastest lady after taking two podium positions for third and second in her Division in a Ford. FIA GT1 World Championship: three Germans on home event podiumAt the sole FIA GT1 World Championship event on German soil local matadors had the podium well in their hands. In the "Championship Race” at the Sachsenring, the fourth round of season, Christian Hohenadel from Saarland won together with team mate Andrea Piccini (I). As a result the Aston Martin duo prevented the Saxony based team All inkl.com Münnich Motorsport from taking victory with Munich born Dominik Schwager and Nicky Pastorelli (I).
