CHRIS Holder and Darcy Ward both scored maximums as Poole racked up a huge 62-28 away win at Swindon in the first leg of their Knockout Cup tie.It was the Pirates’ biggest victory on the road under the promotion of Matt Ford, and the Pirates chief has announced he will slash admission prices for next Wednesday’s return fixture.Ford said: “I accept that Swindon will claim they were understrength but I am not going to take anything away from my lads. They were brilliant and they all deserve a hearty reception on Wednesday night for the second leg.“Prices will be slashed to £10 for adults and concessions and £2 for kids, and our voucher holders will receive a free programme, to celebrate this fine win."

COVENTRY have made a change at reserve by bringing in Workington’s Peter Kildemand as a doubling-up rider. The 21-year-old Dane, in good form for the Comets so far this season, replaces Richard Sweetman in the Bees squad.Coventry co-boss Alun Rossiter said: “We’ve been keeping an eye on several riders and Peter is one who has really impressed us so far this season, and having spoken to Keith Denham at Workington and to Peter, he was really keen to come here.“I had a long talk with Richard, and he was very honest about the situation. I do have a lot of belief in him but things just haven’t been happening for him this year so we had to make a change.”

EASTBOURNE co-promoter Mike Bellerby says his riders will be fired up to challenge for trophies on two fronts as they prepare to face Wolverhampton in the Knockout Cup on Saturday.Last season’s defeated finalists remain strongly placed in the league, but they are also keen to build up a first leg Cup advantage at Arlington.Bellerby said: “We are just as keen to do well in the Knockout Cup - after all, it is a competition that has always been close to our hearts, successes in 1994, 1997, 2002 and most recently 2008 providing some of the proudest moments in the club’s History.“With something of a break in fixtures heading into the month of July it is essential that we send our supporters home with a fine performance to reflect upon, one that will sustain them in the weeks leading up to our next home meeting.”

BERWICK have put a special admission offer in place as they prepare to host Ipswich at Shielfield Park on Saturday. It will be the Witches’ first visit to the venue for 40 years, and supporters producing a programme from the 1970 KO Cup Final between the clubs will be admitted for the reduced charge of £10.A Bandits spokesperson said: “Those of us who are old enough will remember the Cup Final of 1970 – our Bandits’ first-ever big Final! – and the fact that our home leg attracted the biggest crowd of that season.“Although we love all our younger fans, we thought we should give the older ones who’ve been following the Bandits all these years a wee bonus, too!”(FIXTURES)
