Will Stevens to contest Snetterton Renault Uk Round

British racer Will Stevens is setting his sights on adding another Formula Renault victory to his tally when he makes a guest appearance in the Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship at Snetterton on 6/7 August.

The 20 year-old from Oxshott, Surrey, currently competes in the fiercely competitive Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, in which he has notched up victory in the opening rounds and three podium finishes to place fourth in the title battle.

Making the most of the lengthy break in the Eurocup calendar, Stevens returns to Snetterton, where he secured second and fourth places last season, but this year without the benefit of track knowledge following extensive winter work at the Norfolk track.

Now the BRDC Rising Star, who scored seven podiums last season on his way to fourth overall in the Formula Renault UK Championship, will go head-to-head with the regular British runners in the latest rounds of the domestic series in preparation for the British rounds of Eurocup at Silverstone next month.

Driving for the current leaders of the domestic series, Daventry-based Fortec, Stevens will then contest two rounds of Eurocup, which support the World Series by Renault event, in front of an estimated 50,000 spectators, when it hits the Northamptonshire track on 19/20/21 August.

“We’re going to Snetterton with only one aim, and that’s to win,’ said Will. “We’ve had a good start to the Eurocup season, but now find ourselves with a big gap in the calendar before the Silverstone races.

“We’ve learnt a lot from our time in Europe and racing at Snetterton will give us the chance to put that knowledge to good use, and go over a few things before we head to Silverstone. With the break in Eurocup, it’s important to keep sharp, and where better to do that than at Snetterton, where I have a good record of results.

“The competition in Europe is particularly close this season, with 35 cars all competing for victory, but that’s not to say that the competition will be easy at Snetterton. There are some quick drivers out there, many of whom I’ve raced against before, but I will treat it like any other race weekend and aim to be right on the pace come qualifying.”

The former British, European and Asian-Pacific kart champion will take to the track for two practice sessions on Friday at 09.35 and 14.10 ahead of qualifying on Saturday, which take place at 10.30 and 16.30. On Sunday two 12-lap races will be held at 09.45 and 16.10, in front of an enthusiastic British Touring Car Championship crowd, with the races shown on ITV4 later that day.
