As a circuit with a history spanning seven decades, Castle Combe has always recognized its past, offering all kinds of classic and historic events for the benefit of both drivers and spectators.
As each passing year provides more 'history' to draw from, 2012 will undoubtedly be the most significant to date in terms of the quality, number and range of such events.
A number of new, reformed and enhanced relationships with clubs such as the VSCC, the HRDC, the CSCC and various owners' clubs will see at least four of the circuit's meetings run to a classic theme.
The year opens with 'Classica' on Easter Monday, with races for the HRDC's brilliantly organized 'Touring Car' and 'Grand Touring Car' series. Making its debut is the MGB 50 series, part of the ongoing celebrations for this beloved sports car's significant birthday.
In July, the 'Classic 50 Race Weekend' is dominated by races from the CSCC. One of the most eagerly awaited will be 'Special Saloons', the number 1 favourite of so many race fans who adored those beasts with such names as 'Baby Bertha', Dafnee, Janglia etc.
A very significant anniversary takes place on August Bank Holiday Monday, when Porsche celebrates 60 years since the very first of its cars raced in the UK. This happened to be at Castle Combe, where a 356 driven by Mr C.L. Bannister took part in the up to 1500cc Sports Car race.
Rounding off the race meetings next year is the 'Great Western Historic Carnival' where the Vintage Sports Car Club will be entertaining with its wonderful Pre and Post War machinery. You can also expect Equipe GTS, Astons, Healeys, Sunbeam Alpines and Tigers and a 1960's 'Intermarque Challenge'.
For spectators wishing to take in as many of these as possible, the circuit is offering a 'Classic Mega Pass', which provides admission to all four classic events over 5 days as well as its 'Classic and Sports Car Action Day'.
At just £55, the pass represents a saving of over £40 compared with buying the tickets individually.
Information on this and all Castle Combe events is available from a variety of online sources including the circuit's website, www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk, builty by Racecar
