Adelaide V8 Ute Star crashes whilst Testing at Calder‏

Adelaide's Craig Dontas has written off his Holden VE SS V8 Ute, whilst fine tuning it in preparation for Round 1 of the Auto One V8 Ute Racing Series - protected by Armor All today (Friday, 24th February) at Calder Park in Victoria.

Dontas was taken to Melbourne Hospital immediately following the incident, and although a little sore, is waiting for scans to return on his shoulder and neck."I'm just really sore, they think they found something around my neck and shoulder so are just running a few more scans, but I feel fine," said Dontas. The Thirsty Camel Backed Holden hit the Wall at high impact after suffering brake failure, the impact moving the left hand front strut tower back against the firewall.

"We were having a few issues with the brakes earlier in the morning and we thought we'd fixed it, but I guess not. The car is totalled but we still plan to be on the grid next week, we just have to pull everything together," said Dontas.Pulling everything together is exactly what Dontas' Team Manager, Dave Murphy has been doing.

"We are trying to do a deal with James Brock to race his Ute, so we will be working all weekend to make Adelaide next week," said Murphy.

Dontas is set to hit the track alongside twin brother Troy next Thursday 1 March.
