Classic and Sports Car Auction promises a grand day out at Castle Combe

Some cracking contraptions will be out in force this Saturday 30th June when Castle Combe Circuit welcomes the Classic & Sports Car Action Day with charity rides in aid of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity.

The Classic & Sports Car Action Day offers the chance for clubs and drivers to get together, display their cars and get out on this historic circuit. Around 1000 cars are expected on the day ranging from the Jaguar E-type, Daimler Dart, Alvis Single Eagle, Marcos to the Lotus Elite and more!

Castle Combe Circuit Managing Director, Graham Marshallsay, confirmed: “We are delighted to be working with Richard Bishop Motorsport who will be providing the cars and the drivers to help raise funds for this worthwhile charity. We have found over the years that this event attracts people of all ages as the classic car is always such a pleasure to see. To tie it in therefore with this children’s charity is great for everyone involved.

“For 2012 we have also added a few extras to ensure there really is something for everyone. Cadbury will be displaying the Crème Egg Car and, although it is still uncertain whether we can take it out on the circuit, we’re very keen to see it lead one of the parade laps if at all possible. We’ve also had confirmation that local businessman, Ian Wallace, will be bringing along his 1959 Austin A35 which, bar its colour, is virtually identical to the Anti-Pesto van used in ‘Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit’. A perfect tie in with the charity rides.

“We’ve invited Homemaker Events to bring their Vintage Trade Marquee and Flea Market to the event. This is a new company to the circuit and one which we are delighted to be working with as they bring a large marquee and a range of exhibitors from vintage automobilia to art deco jewellery, vintage picnic hampers and more.”

“If this isn’t enough then the Richard Edmonds Classic Car Auction will also be taking place on the day with a preview day on Thursday 28th and sales and previews on Friday 29th June and Saturday 30th June although entry into this will be by catalogue only”.

The Classic and Sports Car Action Day has been running at Castle Combe Circuit for over 25 years. The event offers the opportunity for drivers to get out on the historic circuit with 15-minute sessions costing £35 on the day whilst the more sedate 3-lap parade sessions cost £15 on the day. Alternatively the charity rides in aid of Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal are £20 for 3 fast laps. Admission into the event itself is £10 in advance / £12 on the day. Children under the age of 17yrs go free.
