HHC Motorsport came away from Brands Hatch and Croft at the weekend with points and podium finishes after the latest rounds of the Ginetta Junior Championship and Ginetta GT5 Challenge.
At Brands Hatch in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, former Castle Combe saloon car ace William Burns bagged two third places out of his weekend, the second one coming on his birthday! It marked a real upturn in pace for Will who adapted well to the challenging Grand Prix circuit and was part of a hectic fight for places in each race.
At Croft, Charlie Robertson was in action in the latest rounds of the Ginetta Junior Championship. After a typically frantic first race, Charlie was classified third after rival Niall Murray was given a five-second time penalty for contact at the hairpin on the last lap. Charlie and Murray were in combat in race two but once ahead, the Caterham school pupil managed to wriggle clear and was less than half a second behind the race leader at the chequered flag. The result keeps Charlie in the hunt for the title as he is third, just 21 points behind Sennan Fielding as the championship takes its summer break prior to Snetterton on August 11/12.
Said HHC Motorsport’s Charlie Kemp: “Points are good for us as it keeps Charlie in the hunt for the title and proves again that he is a consistent front-runner in the Junior Championship. Will’s podium finishes at Brands Hatch are a great result and gives him the confidence he needed to be able to run at the front every time out. To master the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit isn’t easy so to take podiums on your debut there is an excellent achievement.”
The team is next in action with its Ginetta fleet at Cadwell Park on July 21/22 for the Ginetta GT5 Challenge.
