His 29th win, all but one with Target Chip Ganassi Racing, tied Rick Mears for 10th all-time."If I could run for another nine years that would be pretty cool," said Dixon, who is two wins from tying Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Dario Franchitti, Sebastien Bourdais and Paul Tracy for ninth. He certainly was productive afterward. His final win came at Indianapolis in 1981 - when he was 47 years old.          The first race A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, Al Unser Jr. and Rick Mears won after they turned 32 was the Indianapolis 500. Unser won the 500 on his 32nd birthday (5/29/71).          Foyt won his 67th and final race (at Pocono) when he was 46 years old. He won his first when he was 25.          Al Unser Jr. won his 20th race two days before turning 32 - at Long Beach. Nigel Mansell was the runner-up.          It was two days shy of a two-year gap between Paul Tracy's 30th and 31st victories (both at Cleveland; the latter in 2007). He earned his 29th win (at Milwaukee) three weeks before his 30th.          Foyt's first four victories were on dirt ovals in events sanctioned by USAC. In each, he didn't start on the front row.          Four-time CART/Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais, who's competing this season in the No. 7 TrueCar Dragon Racing car, won his 31st race at Mexico City in 2007. He competed in Formula 1 the next two seasons.          Of Mario Andretti's 52 wins, 24 came from the pole.          Michael Andretti won his final race (at Long Beach in 2002) with fellow IZOD IndyCar Series team owner Jimmy Vasser placing second. Vasser had 10 Indy car wins.          Like his brother, Bobby, Al Unser's first victory was the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Bobby was second in that 1965 race.          Dario Franchitti moved into a tie with Tracy and Bourdais with 31 victories by winning his third Indianapolis 500 in May.3. Skip Barber Racing Series champions to participate in Chris Griffis Memorial Test: The Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda is opening its doors to give up-and-coming drivers a taste of the next level car on the Mazda Road to Indy.

The winners of the Skip Barber Winter and Summer Series presented by Mazda will be awarded a seat at the second annual Chris Griffis Memorial Mazda Road to Indy Open Test on Oct. 10-11 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.The test, dedicated to the memory Chris Griffis, Sam Schmidt Motorsports' Firestone Indy Lights team manager, brings together the three levels of the Mazda Road to Indy Ladder system including the Star Mazda Championship Powered by Goodyear and Firestone Indy Lights. Hosted by INDYCAR, the outing not only offers all three series a jumpstart on the 2013 season but also showcases the ladder system to prospective teams and drivers."As a 1990 graduate of the Skip Barber organization myself, I know what a terrific training program they have put together over the years," said Dan Andersen, President and CEO of Andersen Promotions, the series promoter. "With so many of their graduates moving into our USF2000 Championship, it is only natural and logical that we should expose these talented drivers to the teams and cars of USF2000 at the IMS open test. The partnership with the La Tam Challenge Series in Mexico will see the top-three drivers in that series receiving a one-day test with Star Mazda at Indianapolis.***The 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series race continues with the GoPro Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma on Aug. 26 at the raceway in Sonoma. The race will be televised by NBC Sports Network at 4 p.m. (ET) and broadcast by the IMS Radio Network on SiriusXM (XM 94 and Sirius 212). The next Firestone Indy Lights race is the Grand Prix of Baltimore on Sept. 2 on the Streets of Baltimore.
