Targa Iberia confirms dates for 2013 event

The Targa Iberia will run from October 22nd to 26th in 2013, subject to the final approval of the Spanish ASN. The event, set to run for the first time in 2013 under the promotion of Jesus Pozo, will include race circuits and challenging roads across the Iberian Peninsula and feature some of the best circuits in Spain. We are still waiting on the agreement of the Spanish ASN, explains Jesus Pozo, but we wanted to announce the dates as soon as we could to give competitors an early opportunity to start planning for it. Im delighted that we have been able to confirm our route to include the circuits at Jerez and Ascari in Spain and the Portimao circuit in Portugal. In addition, I hope to be able to confirm shortly that we will be also using the Monteblanco circuit, which will make a fantastic route for competitors over the five days. Each circuit has its own challenges for competitors and will contribute to a very testing but enjoyable route. Portimao is a modern facility that has played host to a variety of modern and historic championships and is very popular with drivers; Jerez is steeped in history having been the scene of some wonderful Grands Prix and fascinating championship showdowns and Ascari is an amazing facility which is more than just a circuit: it is a motor sport resort and will be the perfect fit to the event. Monteblanco was a hit with historic racers two years ago and I am sure that it will be a great addition to our route for this event. It promises to be an excellent event and we have been pleasantly surprised by the positive reaction already. We look forward to seeing a great entry take the start on October 22nd.
