A name well known in motor sport circles, Jason Gomersall, is making an even greater commitment to a sport he loves as season 2013 sees a full season commitment to racing with the Touring Car Masters in his newly liveried 1974 Holden Torana SL/R 5000, with major backing from Gomersalls day job, his growing business, iseek.
It was a birthday gift years ago that introduced Gomersall to the passion of racing, an experience in a Formula Ford at Barbagallo Raceway the catalyst, before a chance meeting with a Formula Vee star of the day had the businessman take the plunge into the world of motor sport.
Having raced with the V8 Utes in past seasons, and made a brief appearance to debut the Torana at Muscle Car Masters last year, the time has now come for a full commitment to the series as the iseek SL/R 5000 becomes a permanent fixture on the Masters grid as of round one at Top Gear Festival Sydney, and theres no doubt that Gomersall is excited about what the season will bring, explaining,
I am really looking forward to competing in the Touring Car Masters for the whole 2013 season.
Last year was a very fragmented season for me with only a handful of races in the V8 Utes and the one TCM appearance. My intention had been to compete in the second half of the TCM season, but due to delays in the build of the Torana and my involvement in a big accident while racing at Winton, I only competed in the one TCM round last year, just an early taste.
Ive very much missed my racing over the last few months and cannot wait to get back behind the wheel.
Given that his first road car was a 1974 Holden LJ Torana, its not a surprise to see the New Zealand born, Queensland resident return to his roots and campaign a true Australian classic as he takes on his next challenge on the race track, while always focused on greater developments for his iseek brand. In 2013, iseek will not only be seen across the Masters SL/R entry, but Gomersall has also confirmed iseek as major sponsor of George Miedeckes Matt Stone Racing operated Falcon in the Dunlop V8 Supercar Series, saying,
This year should be huge for iseek Racing with our Touring Car Masters entry complimented by our involvement with George Miedecke in the Dunlop V8 Supercar Series. Having the brand showcased across both popular categories, and around the country means its not only enjoyable but will prove to be beneficial in many ways too.
With the livery revealed, and the final touches being put on the iseek Racing Torana ahead of its re-debut with the Masters once again at Sydney Motorsport Park, Gomersall has many plans unfolding for his racing ventures, looking to the season ahead for new experiences, new challenges, and noting I am particularly looking forward to the Queensland Raceway round as this is my home event where Ill have even greater support and hope to really show off the iseek Racing Torana.
iseek Racing will hit the circuits firstly with Miedeckes Dunlop V8 Supercar season opener at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide, then with Gomersall re-joining the Touring Car Masters grid for the start of the seventh season of classic muscle car racing at Top Gear Festival Sydney, Sydney Motorsport Park, 9-10 March.
The Touring Car Masters is proudly supported by Shannons Insurance, Rare Spares, Unique Cars Magazine and the 2013 Australian Muscle Car Masters, with official suppliers Hoosier Tires and Australian Sports Marketing.
