Mason Just Misses out on Superstock Points

Mason Law made his debut race in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship this weekend at the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit and was unlucky just to miss out on a points scoring position and finished his first race in a strong 16th place.

A former motocross racer and only taking to tarmac for his first season in 2012, the youngster proved a talent and drastically cut his times throughout the weekend, racing the Chris Walker Race School Kawasaki he has been eager to kick start his 600 career and get to Brands. Working hard over the winter and having knowledge from experienced racer Chris Walker and also helping mentor him is former World Supersport Champion Andrew Pitt.

Most riders found with the extremely bitter weather conditions on Friday that they had to take it steady as with no heat getting into the tyres set up on the bikes was made difficult. Mason made progress throughout the weekend and in every session he was taking more and more time off. He managed to qualify in 20th place only a second off the front row time.

The youngster was unfortunate to get a terrible start and after the opening lap he was sitting in 30th place, he was left with a lot of work to do to get back through the field. Getting his head down he got stuck in and was soon making confident passes on riders and was picking them off lap by lap. Eventually getting up to 16th place at the finish of the fraught 22-lap race, he narrowly missed out on Championship points.

Mason Law - "I'm really pleased with this weekend and the progress we have made, I've worked really hard over the winter to get my fitness up to scratch and really keen to get some good results this season and prepared to put in the hard work and effort to get that.

I've been fortunate to gain the support and backing from Chris (Walker) and Andrew (Pitt) and it's been great to be able to get their experience and knowledge with all of this it's great. I've really enjoyed the weekend and despite a small technical problem that we were able to fix before the race it's been great. Every time out on the bike I've improved and learnt something new. I was a bit gutted to miss out on the points but I made a mess of my start and knew I had my work cut out to get back to where I did.

My race times were really good and I have a lot of positives to take on to Thruxton, I nearly got 15th and tried to make a pass on the closing laps but it didn't quite go to plan, it's a tough track to pass at and I managed to find some good places to get by. It was a tough learning curve but just made me more excited about the rest of the season. I can't wait to get to Thruxton and get back out on the bike."
