Only half an Auto GP weekend for Riccardo Agostini in Marrakech

A FOURTH POSITION IN RACE 1 FOR THE ITALIAN DRIVER WHO WAS FORCED TO RETIRE AFTER A CONTACT IN RACE 2

It has been a good weekend, but with too many unexpected events, for Riccardo Agostini in Marrakech, where he raced the second of eight meetings of the 2013 Auto GP championship.

The MP Motorsport team driver, facing a street circuit for the first time, performed well: third in the qualifying on Saturday - after the Friday sessions had been cancelled due to an heavy rain - and then constantly close to the leading positions in Race 1, before a spin forced him to an early pit stop. Then a frantic comeback that led Agostini to a fourth position. On the verge of the podium but with the classification still under appeal because of the one minute penalty imposed to Kimiya Sato (third at the checkered flag and guilty of having made a late pit-stop on the final lap, which is against the rules.)

In Race 1 Agostini proved to be fast and aggressive and already familiar with Colonis series 3.4-liter single-seater. Unfortunately in  Race 2 the young Italian could only race for a few meters before being hit by Sergio Campana, which meant an early end of the game for Agostini, who is now getting ready for the next round at the Hungaroring on the 4th and 5th of May. Agostini remains sixth, close to the top positions.
