and Bryan Hixon Wins Another Skip Barber Race Series
After an exciting finale at Sebring International Raceway, all 12 rounds of the 2012-13 Skip Barber Winter Race Series and MAZDASPEED Challenge are complete.
Jake Eidson, 17, Littleton, CO, made Skip Barber Race Series history winning his third consecutive Skip Barber Race Series Championship. Pictured here during his acceptance speech at the season finale banquet, the 17-year old plans to race in this year's F1600 series until the 2013 Skip Barber Race Series Championship Shootout, where he finished 2nd last year.
"I think most of it is just applying everything I've learned the year before and the year before and the year before," said Eidson who finished on the podium in all 12 rounds of the series including 5 straight wins to close out the championship. "All that knowledge is priceless. The experience and all the help the Skip Barber guys have given is what makes this all possible."
In the MAZDASPEED Challenge, Bryan Hixon, 33, San Antonio, TX, won his second Skip Barber Race Series Championship in as many years. He was the first-ever to win the MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge, which ran its inaugural season in 2012, and can add the 2013 MAZDASPEED Challenge Winter Series Championship to his trophy case. Hixon finished on the podium in 11 of the 12 rounds including 5 wins.
Felix Borodaty won the Skip Barber MX-5 Master's Series. This is his first Master's Series title. He finished the year with 1 win and 4 podium finishes. Each master's series runs concurrently within the race series for drivers over 40 years old--master--and over 50--grand masters.
In the Skip Barber Formula Master's Series, Bobby Eberle, posing here with his son Trace, won his 1st title. He finished the year with 1 win and 3 podium finishes. Eberle got his first Skip Barber Race Series victory and victory lap--"The Best Ride in Motorsports"--in the very last race of the series. This is Eberle's second consecutive Formula Master's podium finish. He finished 2nd in the 2012 Summer Series.
During his acceptance speech at the banquet, an emotional Eberle said, "The two things I have a passion for are tennis and racing. After I hurt my back and had to wear what I call my 'turtle shell' for months, I got a little more curious about racing. I want to thank all of the instructors, crew and staff for helping me to where I am now."

These drivers are now qualified for 2013 Skip Barber Race Series Championship Shootout that boasts a grand prize of a $200,000 MAZDASPEED Driver Development scholarship toward the 2014 USF2000 Series presented by Cooper Tires.
Eidson, Telitz and Robinson earned $10,000, $5,000 and $3,000 in Skip Barber Race Series credits, respectively, for their overall positions. Robinson was also named "Rookie of the Year" complete with $3,000 in Skip Barber Race Series credits. Gus Doppes was named "Most Improved" and earned $3,000 in credits.

Hixon wins a half season in the 2014 MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge for his finish. Wilby and Foley earned $5,000 and $3,000 in Skip Barber Race Series credits, respectively, for their final positions in championship points. Foley was also named "Rookie of the Year" complete with $3,000 in Skip Barber Race Series credits. Felix Borodaty was named "Most Improved" and earned $3,000 in credits.
