COVENTRY have dropped struggling Polish rider Mateusz Szczepaniak and replaced him with former Bees man Stuart Robson. The experienced Robson, who is Newcastles No.1 in the Premier League, had ten years as a Coventry asset earlier in his career and will make his first appearance of his latest spell with the club at Wolverhampton on Monday.Bees promoter Mick Horton said: We all knew Mateusz was struggling, but we all have to take responsibility as a team. Normally you can carry a rider, but if you have two or three not riding well its not going to work.I believe Robbo will be an improvement on Mateusz, hes looking forward to it and he knows what we want from him.(SPEEDWAY 2)

BELLE Vue boss Jason Attwood is backing Slovenian star Matej Zagar to be a top man in the Elite League this season.Zagar impressed in the Aces positive results against Coventry recently, and Attwood is calling for more of the same when they face Peterborough on Monday.Attwood said: He hadn't had much racing at the start of our season but he is looking better and better as he gets more laps under his belt. He had three wins in the win over Coventry last week when you could see he was getting dialled in to our track.

NEWCASTLE reserve Lewis Kerr continued his terrific start to life at Premier League level with a four-ride paid-maximum as the Diamonds secured silverware against Scunthorpe.Winter signing Kerr picked up 11 (paid 12) in a 59-34 win for the home side to take the Premier Shield over the reigning league champions, with Richie Worrall top-scoring on 14+1.Newcastle boss George English said: There were a few moments early on when we weren't completely convinced we were going to take the Premier Shield, but the lads really turned on the style and power to leave Scunthorpe looking for solace. Lewis Kerr was again spectacular, taking his first paid maximum for the Diamonds from four rides and whilst we knew we'd got a great find in our ranks I don't think even we could have hoped for such a superb start from him.

MILDENHALL made a strong start to their National Trophy defence with a 55-37 win over Stoke at West Row.Returning Fen Tigers favourite Jon Armstrong scored a paid maximum from five rides with No.1 Stefan Nielsen adding paid-13and promoter Michael Lee feels there is more to come.Lee said: That was actually more comfortable that I thought it would be. The reserves played a big part in the result, which they should get credit for. Nathan (Stoneman) was very cross with himself after last week's meeting but today he has gone out there and started to regain the form he was showing last year. Jon Armstrong was just fantastic and the rest of the boys all played their part as well. We are still short of track time and there are some niggles to be ironed out but as their confidence grows and they get dialled in I think we are in for another good run with this team.
