BERWICKS Premier League clash with north-eastern rivals Newcastle next month has been selected for live television coverage on Sky Sports. The match has been brought forward by four days to Tuesday May 21 and will take place almost exactly 45 years since the first-ever speedway meeting at Shielfield Park, which featured the same two clubs.Berwick co-owner John Anderson said: Obviously we are tremendously proud to have Sky coming to Shielfield Park. This is a reward, I believe, for our continuing programme of track and ground improvements and it is another indication of how much the sport of speedway can bring to Berwick-upon-Tweed as we are awarded these events.

SCUNTHORPE will be back to full strength as they start their defence of the Premier League title with home and away clashes with Ipswich this week.Scorpions reserves Ryan Douglas and Josh Bates return to the side at Foxhall on Thursdayand promoter Rob Godfrey is keen to make a positive start.Godfrey said: While it would have been nice to do well in the League Cup and the Premier Shield, it is the league which is our priority. Its here that the really important stuff begins. Its about getting comfortably into the play-offs, and then making sure the team is on top form come the end of the season. A couple of positive results this week would get our league campaign off to the start that we are looking for.

REDCAR boss Jitendra Duffill has warned his side they still have work to do in order to progress in the Knockout Cup.The Bears won 46-44 at Berwick on Saturday thanks to an outstanding display from reserve Micky Dyer, but Duffull is wary of a Bandits backlash in Thursdays second leg.He said: 'We were very pleased but will remember that the job is only half done and the Bandits have the incentive that the winning aggregate is within touching distance. Micky has proved an outstanding signing for us so far this season and to have him available for up to seven rides in a match is a bonus.
