This weekends BBC coverage of the Spanish Grand Prix (10-12 May) will put the spotlight on MSA Team UKs recent visit to Chelsea Football Clubs ultra-impressive Academy in Cobham, Surrey.

The film due to be aired as part of the BBCs build-up to Saturdays qualifying session in Barcelona will follow Max Chilton, Britains latest F1 star, and ten of the countrys most promising young race and rally drivers as they shared a day with some of Chelsea FCs brightest young prospects.

The two groups spent the morning training together at the Chelsea FC Academy before the MSA Team UK squad coached their footballing counterparts in racing techniques at the high-tech Lets Race Simulator Centre close to Gatwick Airport.

Naturally it was a very enjoyable day, but it was also an enormously beneficial experience on many different levels, said Ben Taylor, the MSAs Director of Development and Communications. Some of the drivers certainly fancied themselves on the pitch and the young Chelsea players enjoyed the simulators, but both groups gained an invaluable insight into the approach and dedication it takes to get the top in another sport.

Taylor was also keen to praise the BBC in its willingness to highlight the governing bodys initiatives, not only to develop the next generation of world class British drivers but also to assist with getting more people into the sport.

For several years, the BBC has played an important role in supporting the work of the governing body, from David Coulthard experiencing affordable fun in various forms of grass roots motor sport to informative insights into how to get started in karting, racing and rallying. We are extremely grateful to the BBC for its on-going interest and supportand are now looking forward to watching this latest episode on Saturday.
