TAI Woffinden has his sights firmly set on winning the British Final on Monday as he looks to put the heartache of recent seasons behind him.The Wolverhampton star goes into the meeting on home territory in blistering form, having missed out on the top prize in the national championship in dramatic circumstances over the last two seasons.Woffinden said: Its a massive meeting for me, because winning is the next step I can take. Ive won the Under-18s and the Under-21s but Ive never won the British Championship, so I desperately want to complete that collection.Everywhere I ride it is going good at the moment and its been a great start to the season. Everything as a whole has changed for me this year and I think my whole approach is better.

KENNI Larsen and Patrick Hougaard both scored five-ride maximums as Peterborough hit top form for the first time this season with an emphatic 59-34 win over Poole.Larsen reeled off five straight race wins whilst Hougaard put a tough start to 2013 behind him with a score of 13 paid 15, as the Panthers hit the Pirates with seven 5-1s in the final nine races of the meeting.Peterborough boss Jan Staechmann said: Its easy to say now, but we knew what the guys were capable of and tonight it all came together.Im so pleased for Patrick and for Kenni, the two maximum men, and I felt all the boys did really well. It was almost the Kenneth (Bjerre) of old, it was certainly the Linus (Sundstrom) of old, and Im chuffed with them all.

RYE House promoter Len Silver was left to rue a breakdown and the weather as the Rockets left Redcar point-less on Thursday. The result of the Premier League clash was declared at 36-27 in the Bears favour after persistent rain brought a halt to proceedings, and that meant a stoppage for Tyson Nelson as he was leading Heat 9 proved crucial.Silver said: But for the abandonment, we would have gone home with at least a League point. Even with the call-off, it was only Tysons plug lead that prevented us doing just that, as a 3-3 in that race would have left us just 34-29 behind at Heat 10.But all of the boys rode really hard, and it is just a shame that they didnt see the match out.

LEICESTER will be boosted by the return of skipper Kauko Nieminen for two Premier League matches in two days over the weekend.Nieminen suffered mild concussion in a crash at Somerset last Friday, but the Finn has been declared fit for the Lions trip to Berwick on Saturday and the home clash with Ipswich on Sunday.Leicester co-promoter Alan Jones said: We won at Berwick last season and although the Bandits have lost three times at home already we are going there under no illusion that it will be easy. Three of our last four away results have been disappointing and whilst it is early days we just cannot rely on our home form to ensure we reach the play-off stage. Despite being without Kauko at Ipswich on Monday we were in the meeting right up to the halfway stage. The return fixture against the Witches on Sunday is one of the most attractive meetings of the year, particularly as the visitors are led by Ben Barker who is a top performer in the Premier League.
