TAI Woffinden realised a dream by winning his first-ever British title on home shale.Wolverhampton star Woffinden romped to a 15-point maximum in the hugely successful British Final at Monmore Green and then made no mistake in the Grand Final by edging out reigning champion Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris and Craig Cook. Edward Kennett and Danny King had missed out in the semi-final.Woffinden said: This means so much to me. I said before the meeting I wanted the title so badly, I won the Under 18, I won the Under 21 and now Ive won the British title itself.I just want to thank everyone who has helped me achieve this, my sponsors, the Wolves fans and management, everyone, and I want to dedicate this title to Lee Richardson and my father. Thats really all I can say.

LEICESTER have made a team change at reserve with former Berwick man Alex Edberg coming in to replace Simon Nielsen.Edberg recently lost his place as part of the Bandits own changes when they signed Edward Kennett at No.1, and will make his Lions debut at home to Workington on Saturday.Lions boss Glyn Taylor admitted sympathy for Nielsen, who has returned this season from a broken thigh sustained last June.He said: Simon is such a likeable guy and a team man through and through. In my opinion Simon has not yet returned to his pre-June 2012 form but if we were having a better season results-wise we could afford to give him extra time needed to get back to where he was before the accident.

ISLE Of Wight romped to another impressive National Trophy away win with a 44-22 success at newcomers Kent. The meeting was abandoned after eleven heats due to rain but the Islanders still took all four points from the declared result, with skipper Ben Hopwood unbeaten from his three rides.Islanders co-boss Kevin Shepherd said: Chris (Hunt) and I together with the seven riders we tracked came here determined to do our best to secure the win but I don't think any of us would have thought we'd win by that big a margin!Win we did though, although I'm sure that the Kent side will improve once they've all had further rides on what is, at this stage, effectively still an away track to them just as much as it was tonight to our riders.

JAKE Knight has stood down from his National League duties with Kings Lynn to focus on racing for Kings Lynn in the Premier League.Knight has taken his decision due to work commitments for himself and father Richard, and the Young Stars are to confirm team changes as a result in the near future.Manager Dale Allitt said: I had a long talk with Jake and it was clear he was under pressure time wise and this being a huge year for him it was decided by both parties that he needs to put all efforts into his PL commitments with Sheffield. However I must add that Jake only made the final decision after he knew we would be able to get a replacement and that the team would not suffer. I must also point out Jake made it clear if we found ourselves in a difficult position in the future he would not want to see us struggle and would be willing to help out.
