Racing to the Heritage Motor Centre

A spectacular show of Jaguar racing cars at the Heritage Motor Centre near Gaydon, Warwickshire, is one of the attractions bringing visitors to the Midlands over the next few months.  In the run-up to The Sunday Times Motor Show Live at the NEC in May, the Centre has compiled a programme of exciting events.

A new exhibition of unique racing cars from vintage to modern day Formula One has been brought together by the curator of the museum;  including Alpine, Monte Carlo and Le Mans cars to prototypes and most recently the Jaguar Formula One car.  The show will be open to the public from  March until May.

Throughout the year the Heritage Motor Centre has devised a special programme of outdoor events. The first of the season is the FREE BikeSafe Weekend on 3 and 4 April, which is an ideal opportunity for potential and new motorcycle owners to learn new skills from the experts, the Midland counties local police road safety teams.  The Event will be opened at 10.30 a.m. by "The voice of Motorsport" – Murray Walker OBE, on Saturday (3 April).  On display will be a wide selection of demonstration motorcycles and scooters, including top brands such as Harley Davidson, Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha. Workshops and supervised road trials will be available during the weekend.

A day out at the Heritage Motor Centre offers a diverse range of activities for all the family from Off-road rides to Go-karting to Miniature Roadway driving,  as well as some retail therapy in the Gift Shop where the selection of goods ranges from stylish jewellery to motoring memorabilia to toys.   A 'pit stop' meal break is recommended in the newly refurbished Café, offering an extensive menu to suit all appetites.  Then of course there is the world's largest collection of historic British cars, dating from the turn of the Twentieth Century and the introduction of the first motorised vehicle to present-day sports cars.

The Heritage Motor Centre is located close to junction 12 of the M40, situated in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside between Stratford-upon-Avon and Royal Leamington Spa. The Centre is open every day (except 24-26 Dec) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Museum admission charges are £8 adults, £7 concessions, £6 children (5-16 yrs), under 5's FREE. Outdoor activities charges apply.
